Hi, my name is Alice Maeve, and I
am a textile designer based in
Melbourne (Naarm), having just
finished my Bachelor of Textiles
(Design) at RMIT University.
Upcycling damaged and discarded
textiles consistently emerges within
my work, as sustainability is integral
to my practice.

Within my Persona project, Life on
Mars or Earth? Only recycled
materials were used. The embroidery
technique, appliqué, was used to
laye different materials on top of
each other. Through this technique,
I was able to explore my theme while
achieving upcycling within the project.

Through my practice, I continue to
think of ways I can sustainably
approach textiles. To me, upcycling
and recycling textiles is the future of
the industry.
